NEW DERIVATIVES FROM TOYOTA, SAME DNA
Following the release of the Dakar Limited Edition with its bold new “square” face the Hilux range from Toyota received further tweaks to its façade whilst the line-up has been reinforced with additional utility models.
The standout feature of the refreshed range is the ‘new face’ for normal Raider and SRX models. The black-and-grey Dakar version is carried over to SRX, but with a slightly different execution. Inside, the SRX now benefits from a four-speaker touchscreen infotainment system and accompanying reverse camera. The Raider models receive a chrome grille surround, while its multimedia system now include satnav and DVD-playback compatibility.
Utility-focused derivatives have been added across all three body styles. The single cab range has been extended with a 2.4 GD-6 ’Raised Body’ SRX in six-speed automatic guise (the 2.7 VVTi SRX is discontinued). The SR-grade gains a 2.4 GD-6 Raised Body Manual variant, while the Xtra cab gets a mid-grade 2.4 GD-6 SRX ‘Raised Body’ six-speed auto.
A new entry-level ‘S’ grade double-cab with black bumper and grille has been introduced in 2.4 GD-6 or 2.7 VVTi petrol guise. The SR double-cabs have been expanded with a 4×2 ‘Raised Body’, and a new ‘Raised Body’ 2.4 GD-6 SRX 4×2 Auto. Also, importantly, three Chassis Cab variants – a 2.0 VVTi 5MT AC, 2.4 GD-6 5MT AC and 2.4 GD-6 6MT SRX 4×4 – have been reintroduced, and Inferno Orange paint is now available across the entire range.
Besides the changes to the 33-model Hilux range, Fortuner models have received an infotainment system upgrade, with a touchscreen audio system and reverse camera added to the 2.7 VVTi and 2.4 GD-6 variants. The 2.8 GD-6 and V6 variants now has satellite navigation and DVD-playback capability.
