Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has expanded the popular Kombi-range with the introduction of a Trendline Plus model with 2.0 BiTDI 132 kW engine and DSG drivetrain. Until now, this model was only available in Comfortline trim.
The legendary Kombi has for the past six decades been the best-selling T-series derivative in South Africa. Local production of the T-Series in Uitenhage ended in 2002 and since the local introduction of the sixth-generation Kombi in 2015, nearly 5,000 (4,991) units have been sold here.
The range has also been restructured and the following derivatives is now available; 2.0 TDI 75 kW Trendline with standard or long-wheelbase, 2.0 TDI 103 kW DSG Trendline and Trendline Plus, 2.0 BiTDI 132 kW DSG Trendline Plus, and the flagship 2.0 BiTDI 132 kW DSG Comfortline.
Standard exterior features of the Trendline Plus model include 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights and taillights, dynamic headlight range control, park distance control (front and rear), a reversing camera, and a fixed tow bar. It can be customised with features such as folding side mirrors, a Comfort package, or the Light and Sight package.
Interior highlights include a multi-function steering wheel, multi-function display, ‘Composition Media’ radio with AppConnect, a six-speaker system, adjustable armrests for the driver, voice enhancer for rear passengers, and cruise control. Carpet floor covering, leatherette upholstery, a front passenger seat with armrest, and side and curtain airbags are optionally available.
The 2.0-litre Bi-Turbo engine delivers 132 kW at 4,000 rpm and its peak torque of 400 Nm is available from as low as 1,500 rpm. The new Trendline Plus can reach a maximum speed of 191 km/h and is now available for R659,700.
