A revitalised version of the Mitsubishi Triton, or L200 as it is also known, with powerful new styling was launched late last year in Bangkok, Thailand, and is expected to reach South Africa within the next month or so. This upgraded model is the latest derivative in the 40-year history of the revered L200 pickup.
A global strategic model for Mitsubishi, the latest derivative of the L200 range will be available in some 150 countries around the globe. Its strong front façade incorporates the new-generation ‘Dynamic Shield’ design and the high engine hood line and beefier-looking headlights gives it a powerful and imposing look. New, sculpted body curves with contrasting sharp lines and extended wheel arches add modernity and visual width to the design.
The restyled interior expresses a feeling of modernity and soft-touch materials and stitching on the floor console, armrests, and parking brake heightens the high-quality impression. The Super-Select or Easy-Select 4WD systems now incorporate a new Off-Road Mode with settings for Gravel, Mud/Snow, Sand, and Rock (in 4LLc only), and Hill Descent Control.
Besides a variety of active safety and driver assistance systems, the new Triton can also be specified with a Multi Around Monitor. Braking performance have been improved with the use of larger front discs and callipers, larger rear dampers are now specified, and a new six-speed auto transmission allows for smoother acceleration and refinement gear changes. Local models and pricing have not yet been announced, but it will not differ much from the current line-up.
