MITSUBISHI IMPROVES FLAGSHIP SUV

The new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport made its South African debut a year ago to countrywide acclaim, and now the flagship SUV in the line-up of this Japanese manufacturer has been made even safer.

Already boasting various active and passive safety features among a host of luxury appointments, the designers improved the safety of the Pajero Sport by adding Isofix child seat anchors. Apart from this, a seventh airbag for the protection of the knees of the driver in the case of an accident has also been added.

Powered by a 2.4-litre MIVEC turbodiesel engine producing 133 kW and 430 Nm of torque, driving the wheels through a state-of-the-art eight-speed automatic transmission with Intelligent Shift Control, the Pajero Sport 4×2 now has a maximum towing mass of 2,700 kg, with the 4×4 derivative now able to tow a trailer or off-road caravan of up to 2,790 kg. Another great new feature is a 120 Watt power plug, which comes in quite handy for charging electronic devices on the trot or out in nature.

The Pajero Sport 4×4 is fitted with the latest version of the Super Select II 4WD system of Mitsubishi Motors, uniquely offering four different drive modes with a class-leading Hill-Descent Control system for additional safety when on dangerous ground.

Pricing for the Pajero Sport starts at R569,995 for the 4×2 eight-speed auto with Intelligent Shift Control and R619,995 for the 4×4 model with the Super Select II 4WD system with electronic Off-road Assistance. They are covered by a three-year/100,000 km manufacturer’s warranty and a five-year/90,000 km service plan with 10,000 km service intervals.
