CX-5 range expanded

A petrol-AWD model, at last …

Mazda has introduced two new derivatives in its CX-5 line-up, meaning the range now (at last!) also incorporates an all-wheel drive (AWD) petrol derivative.

The CX-5 Individual 2.0 automatic model (121 kW of power, 213 Nm of torque) with front-wheel drive brings the total model range offering to eight derivatives. This model includes an array of enhancement features, such as driver and passenger eight-way power adjustable seats, ten Bose speakers, front and rear parking sensors, Heads-up Display (HUD), satellite navigation, and a Powerlift tail gate.

The good news is that the 2.5-litre Individual automatic derivative (with an engine delivering maximum power of 143 kW and 285 Nm of torque) is now offered in AWD form. Up to now only the diesel model was available with AWD.

As its diesel counterpart, this Individual model features a power tilt and slide roof and advanced safety features including Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS), Smart City Brake Support (SCBS), Lane Keep Assist (LKA), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Driver Attention Alert (DAA), Adaptive LED headlamps, and Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM).

Pricing for the CX-5 range starts from R386,600 for the 2.0-litre Active model with manual gearbox, with the flagship 2.2-litre DE Akera AWD Auto model retailing for R571,300. The new 2.0 Individual automatic model is now available for R480,700, and the 2.5 Individual AWD automatic for R543,800.
