Volkswagen South Africa has recently introduced a new DSG equipped derivative to its Tiguan range, expanding the local line-up to eight models (not counting the Allspace variants). Previously, the Trendline derivative was only available with a six-speed manual gearbox, but now gains a six-speed DSG option.
The new DSG model also gains slightly more power, with its 1,4-litre TSI-engine now delivering 110 kW and 250 Nm (the same as the Comfortline DSG-equipped models), compared to the 92 kW of power and 200 Nm of torque of the current models.
The front-wheel driven newcomer has been quietly added to the line-up and is now available for R424,900 – about R65,000 less than the Comfortline DSG and just over R20,000 more than the manual Trendline model.
However, while it comes standard with 17-inch alloy wheels, a touchscreen infotainment system, a multi-function display, and cruise control with speed limiter, this derivative is not available with R-Line accessories.
