HR-V REFRESHED

NEW STYLING, MORE EQUIPMENT

The compact Honda HR-V urban crossover, introduced locally in 2015, has recently received a significant upgrade, with new front and rear styling, an enhanced interior, and upgraded equipment levels while, according to Honda, still retaining the core attributes of its predecessor.

The front of the HR-V now features the latest ‘solid wing face’ of Honda, an all-new front bumper, a reprofiled bonnet, and redesigned LED headlights. Furthermore, the recessed apertures for LED fog lamps and LED daytime running lights now come standard on the 1.8 Elegance model. The taillight clusters gain a smoked appearance, while the licence plate garnish has been redesigned to match the styling approach of the front. The 1.5 Comfort retains its 16-inch alloy wheels, but the 1.8 Elegance flagship is now fitted with new 17-inch wheels, while new exterior colours underline its youthful appeal.

The interior retains the unique Magic Seat System, but features model-specific upgrades to the upholstery, fabric, and finishes. In addition, a full-featured infotainment system with a 6.8-inch touchscreen display has been standardised across the range. The 1.8 Elegance model now also receives a rear-view parking camera linked to the parking sensors.

The updated range still offers 1.5-litre and 1.8-litre drivetrains featuring the Honda i-VTEC technology and improved CVT gearboxes. The 1,497 cc four-cylinder engine delivers 88 kW and peak torque of 145 Nm, while the 1.8-litre mill in the Elegance CVT is rated for 105 kW and 172 Nm of torque. The latest HR-V models now retails at R354,900 for the 1.5 Comfort CVT and R419,900 for the 1.8 Elegance CVT.
