IMPORTANT NEW MODEL FOR LEXUS
The UX, according to Lexus targeted at the modern urban explorer who seeks a vibrant take on luxury lifestyle, has recently been introduced to the world media in Stockholm, Sweden, and is earmarked for launch in South Africa early next year.
The first compact urban crossover from the Japanese luxury brand marks a series of technical innovations, including the first use of the new GA-C global architecture platform, with high structural rigidity and a low centre of gravity.
The UX will introduce the fourth-generation Lexus hybrid system, which self-charges and has a higher efficient and a more powerful electric motor of 131 kW. A new engine with high thermal efficiency and a new direct-shift continuously variable transmission will also be introduced. The UX will be the fourth addition to the local Lexus luxury utility range, joining the LX, the recently launched seven-seater RX 350L, and the popular medium compact SUV – the NX.
The front-wheel drive UX 200 is powered by a new 2.0-litre, naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine delivering 126 kW and 205 Nm of torque, coupled with a Direct Shift Continuously Variable Transmission. The hybrid UX 250h pairs a higher-efficiency version of the engine with a new hybrid drive system specifically engineered for this platform.
Both models are equipped with the Lexus Drive Mode Select with three different modes: Normal, Eco, and Sport, and the F-Sport package, with specific suspension tuning of the springs and stabiliser bars, and unique 18-inch wheels, is also available for both. An adaptive Variable Suspension, with a Sport+ mode, is also available as an option.
