V8 power for GLC

AMG muscle for mid-size Merc SUV

Mercedes-AMG has pushed the boundaries in the mid-size SUV sector further with the introduction of the GLC 63 S and GLC 63 S Coupé – the first V8-powered model derivatives in their respective market segments.

The basis for this is provided by AMG’s 4.0 litre V8 biturbo engine, closely related to engine in the Mercedes-AMG GT, that delivers 350 kW (in the GLC 63) or 375 kW (in the GLC 63 S variants), good enough to give the S models a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of just 3.8 seconds.

As a visual indication of their links with Mercedes-AMG sports cars, the new models sport a revised version of the AMG Panamericana grille – previously reserved for the AMG GT family.

The Performance SUVs also feature air spring suspension with adaptive adjustable damping, AMG Performance all-wheel drive with fully variable torque distribution, a rear-axle limited-slip differential and a high-performance braking system. In addition, the new models offer ample room for passengers and luggage, a comprehensive array of safety equipment and superior traction in any weather and road conditions.

The AMG exhaust system comes with flap technology for variable engine sound, and a performance exhaust system, which allows the sound to be modulated at the press of a button, is optionally available.

The fully supporting multi-chamber AMG air suspension ensures high levels of camber stability, driving dynamics and steering precision. The Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S and GLC 63 S Coupé is now available for R1,563,596 and R1,679,605 respectively.
