Special NP300 4×4 displayed
Nissan South Africa has revealed a new version of its ageing stalwart NP300 Hardbody bakkie at the Nampo Agricultural Show, recently staged in Bothaville in the Free State Province.
The new version of the NP300 Hardbody introduces the tough and reliable 2.5 TDI four-cylinder turbodiesel engine of Nissan to the 4×4 double cab range, creating a new flagship model. The engine delivers 98 kW and 304 Nm of torque and is one of the most popular Nissan engines for its extreme durability, ease of servicing, and low fuel consumption.
According to Nissan the new 2.5 TDI 4×4 Double Cab was created after feedback from farmers and dealers in rural communities on the need for a diesel-powered off-road capable NP300 double cab. The new model has been thoroughly tested and will be introduced across South Africa, Namibia, and other neighbouring countries in July this year.
The NP300 2.5 TDI 4×4 Double Cab at the Nampo Show was fitted with a range of additional equipment to create the Rogue Special Edition. This included black alloy wheels, Rogue-decals, black-embroidered leather seats, and a plush carpet set, as well as an upgraded audio system with integrated Bluetooth connectivity and satellite navigation.
According to Nissan the new model will be welcomed by farmers but will also find favour with budget-conscious families and outdoor enthusiasts. It is by no means a stripped down bakkie as it features ample specification levels, yet it will be one of the most affordable 4×4-model double cabs in the market when launched. Pricing for this model has not yet been released.
