World premiere in New York
Subaru has recently unveiled its latest Forester SUV for the US market at the New York International Auto Show. As a top-selling model for Subaru the new fifth-generation Forester is a key model in the global range of the Japanese automaker and it is expected to arrive in South Africa in early 2019.
Based on the new Global Platform of the manufacturer, the new model ensures best-in-class small SUV segment levels of comfort and safety, while its “Dynamic x Solid” design combines the hardiness of an SUV with user-friendly convenience. The rear door opening angle has been optimised, and the opening area and C-pillar shape improves back seat accessibility. Its square luggage storage space also provides for a dramatic increase in loading capacity.
The newcomer provides USB charger ports for both front and back seat passengers, and the new Human Machine Interface (HMI) air-conditioning allows for exact adjustment of temperature controls, while the exclusive Subaru EyeSight driver assist system with improved detection capability ensures an even higher levels of safety.
Although it has a longer wheelbase, its minimum turning radius of just 5.4 m ensures ease of handling. Furthermore, the enhanced direct-injection horizontally opposed 2.5-litre four-cylinder engines, 220 mm ground clearance, Active Torque Vectoring, Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, and enhanced X-Mode provides outstanding driving performance and the off-road drivability expected of an SUV.
