Gazoo Racing Hilux

So, you wanted a Hilux bakkie that looks like the one Nasser Al-Attiyah and Giniel de Villiers used to conquer the Dakar? Well, following their victory in the Dakar Rally of this year, you can now have one, courtesy of Toyota Gazoo Racing.

The GR vehicle range celebrates the sporting successes of the Toyota Gazoo Racing brand, and as such the Hilux GR Sport evokes the style of the racing Hiluxes, combining the white, black, and red colours of the brand on specific components. Ah, and like the race vehicles, it also sports the huge Toyota branding on the front grille.

The design of the exclusive bumper, highlighted by bright black surrounds, chrome lettering, and LED headlights endows the GR Sport with a distinctive look. For each of the body colours offered (Pearl White, Mica Black, and Metallic Red) there is a specific combination of exterior design features, and the exclusive bakkie – of which only 353 will be made available locally, all numbered – also has GR Sport-specific 17-inch alloy wheels.

It may look racy, but do not think you can take on a Ranger Raptor, VW Amarok V6, or Mercedes-Benz X-Class V6, because under the hood is the same 2.8-litre GD-6 engine found in normal Hilux 4×4 6AT derivatives. However, it comes with a special off-road biased suspension – affording the Hilux GR-S even greater off-the-beaten-track prowess. Pricing is not yet available, but if you want one, you will have to order it very quickly …
