LARGER, YET MORE AGILE AND DYNAMIC
The brand-new BMW X4 is now available locally, ready to write the next chapter in the success story of the first ever Sports Activity Coupé, with about 200,000 units sold globally since the introduction in 2014 of the first-generation X4.
According to BMW the X4 has significantly enhanced driving dynamics due to a longer wheelbase, while the standout exterior design accentuates its sporting instincts. It is dynamic and its extravagant aura is further highlighted by the addition of two BMW M Performance models, assisting in its role as the eye-catching athlete in the X-model family.
Its proportions are dynamically stretched – 81 mm in exterior length (to 4,752 mm), a 54 mm longer wheelbase (now 2,864 mm) and 37 mm more width (1,918 mm). Inside, top-class materials and precise build quality set the tone for its premium character, with large stowage trays, roomy door
pockets, cup holders, and various storage compartments testimony to its functional qualities. Load space can be expanded from 525 litres to 1,430 litres.
Two petrol engines and a diesel are now available, with the line-up spearheaded by two M- Performance models – the X4 M40i with a 265 kW six-cylinder in-line petrol engine, and the M40d, powered by a 240 kW
straight-six diesel unit. The xDrive20d draws its drive from a four-cylinder diesel generating 140 kW, while the similar sized petrol engine in the xDrive20i delivers 135 kW. All models direct power to the road via an eight-speed Steptronic transmission and xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive. Prices range from R846,542 for the xDrive20d to R1,144,185 for the flagship M40i.
