Latest BMW SAC on its way
The second-generation BMW X4 Sport Activity Coupe (SAC), first displayed at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year and manufactured in Spartanburg, South Carolina, USA, will be available here shortly. Successor to the first ever coupé SUV in the mid-size class, its predecessor has racked up over 200,000 sales, and according to BMW, the latest X4 places greater emphasis on sportiness and expressive design.
It is longer (+81 mm), wider (+37 mm) and lower (-3 mm) than the outgoing model, with a longer wheelbase (+54 mm) and a modern, premium interior feel, with redesigned sports seats and a cockpit designed around the driver.
The new X4 will be available in xLine, M Sport X and M Sport variants, with exclusive options from the BMW Individual portfolio, and a broad range of engines, featuring three petrol and three diesel units with power outputs ranging from 135 kW to 265 kW. Drive is relayed via an eight-speed Steptronic transmission and BMW xDrive (standard on all models) to all four wheels. Two M Performance models, the M40i and M40d, will also be available.
The new X4 is up to 50 kg lighter compared to its predecessor, with better driving dynamics courtesy of an extensively upgraded and lighter chassis and a drag coefficient (Cd) of only 0.30. It sports the latest iDrive operating system and state-of-the-art driving assistance systems to enhance comfort and safety.
The model variants available at launch are the petrol driven xDrive20i, and xDrive30i, and the xDrive20d, xDrive25d, and 240 kW M40d diesel derivatives. Local pricing is not yet known.
