Ford has introduced its comprehensively re-engineered and upgraded new Tourneo Custom locally. Distinguished by its bold new front-end design with five-bar chrome grille, the new Tourneo now provides higher levels of refinement and sophistication, including high-quality trim materials and improved comfort and noise levels, according to the automaker.
The bold new front-end shares the same design DNA as the latest Ford passenger cars and also feature distinctive new signature daytime running lights along with front fog lamps. Inside, more upscale materials reinforce the impression of quality, and travelling comfort is enhanced by new seat designs, a more effective air-conditioning system, and a sound reduction package for the rear cabin.
The Tourneo Custom offers comfortable seating for six passengers at the rear in two rows of three seats facing forward. The seats can be folded flat, tumbled, stowed in multiple positions, or removed completely for added versatility. Standard safety items across the range include Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) with Hill Launch Assist (HLA), Load Adaptive Control (LAC), Roll-Over Mitigation (ROM), and Trailer Sway Control (TSC). Front, side, and curtain airbags, as well as ISOFIX child seat mounting points, are also standard.
The Tourneo Custom is powered by the Ford range of 2.2-litre four-cylinder Duratorq TDCi turbodiesel engines either delivering 74 kW and 310 Nm of torque, or the 92 kW version with 350 Nm of torque, both coupled to a six-speed manual transmission. Two long-wheelbase models are now available – the entry-level 2.2 TDCi Ambiente delivering 74 kW for R546,000 and the 2.2 TDCi Trend 92 kW for R567,300.
