So, you want a Ranger with a Raptor-like kit, but one that will not void the warranty of your beloved vehicle?
Ford has just come to the rescue by launching a limited edition Ranger with a distinctive array of visual enhancements to give its successful bakkie even more personality and appeal.
It is called the F×4 – nomenclature derived from the all-conquering Ford F-Series pick-ups in the United States – and it has now been added to the already extensive Ranger line-up in an effort to even out-Raptor a fully kitted Wildtrak.
The Ranger F×4 is based on the top-of-the-line 3.2-litre XLT Double Cab 4×4, and introduces an attention-grabbing array of distinctive styling enhancements to, according to Ford, “introduce a new level of exclusivity and appeal”.
The styling changes include Raptor-mimicking black finishes for the radiator grille, fog lamp bezels, exterior mirrors, roof rails, as well as on the door and tailgate handles.
The same colour is adopted for the side steps, rear bumper, and the special F×4 tubular sports bar in the load bay, while 17-inch alloy wheels are supplied in an eye-catching Panther Black finish.
The special Ranger is available in four colours: Frozen White, Moondust Silver, Sea Grey, and Panther Black. To round off the design, unique F×4 decals are applied on the sides and rear tailgate.
The limited edition style kit is only available on Ranger 4×4 derivatives, but it can be ordered with the six-speed manual or automatic transmission options. Prices range from R593,900 for the manual F×4 3.2 TDCi double cab 4×4 to R608,900 for the automatic version.
And, best of all? All F×4 models come standard with Ford Protect, including a four-year/120 000 km warranty, five-year/100 000 km service plan, three-year/unlimited km roadside assistance, and five-year/unlimited km corrosion warranty.
Take that, Raptor-man!
